Clarity

I was stubborn as a tree
Tall and proud, unwilling to change
Slowly, slowly I bent under the unending weight of time
Slowly but surely towards the ground
Until I was sure that I would splinter

But instead of fracturing
  my branches became waves
      my trunk, the sea
          my roots dissolved back into my purest essence

Set adrift I finally reached clarity
As sparkling bright as sunshine filtering across the waters surface
Gentle as the first drop of rain

It was me

I was my own undoing
